#not proper stanning at ALL for this play but when you’ve seen a mov where lorenzo and jessica are LITERALLY the only perfect thing about it you start to develop ~feelings #look at their faces though omg their whole relationship writ minature #she’s literally supporting him tho and not looking at him but out and wistful not quite regret but almost #and he’s looking at her but only halves because he can’t quite properly see her from that angle #he’s sprawling and she’s tense and he’s happy and she’s not quite and he’s in front and she’s behind #but they do love each other #fuck you all mov act five is beautiful and fitting and lovely #i am never merry when i hear sweet music

tagged: #AHOEAEHREUHFORUAHRAH #HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME #i am yelling at chichester and i am yelling at maddi #maddi is terribly clever #and my partner in stanning all the obscure theatre #which #how have i become such a stan for this production? #oh yes #alexandra moen #ed stoppard #grotesquely perfect casting in both of their shows #i mean lorenzo-jessica is fundamentally less demanding but also more intricate than people realize #because they're the impetuous and infatuated young lovers—and we follow their impetuosity up to the point where we see that they don't know each other and have given everything up for an unrealized fragment of feeling and then we get to see them start to maybe move slowly and hopefully towards each other but the play doesn't end with them in a tidy relationship—with hope yes but still with tentativeness and uncertainty. it's shockingly adult in the end. #this might actually be the only thing i stan for in this play (for reasons of yes one production's singular perfection re. them and nothing else. also playing jessica. but: life of.)
